DATO’ DR
COLIN LEE
Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee Soon Soo, aged 65, began his career as a medical doctor from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Going on to specialise in Obstetrics and Gynecology with post graduate degrees from London and Singapore, he further specialised into fertility treatment with focus on pre-implantation genetic testing.
Dato’ Dr. Colin Lee is an internationally recognised leader and innovator in the field of fertility technologies. He has produced more than a dozen world firsts in the fields of IVF, genomics, and stem cells, and over 50 firsts in Australia and Asia (namely Malaysia and Singapore) in the field of IVF.
Dato’ Lee has also innovated various treatment processes which have played a large role in increasing pregnancy rates. Notably, he has elevated IVF success rates in Malaysia from 10% in 1994 to 80% as it stands today, consistently producing a 100% survival rate for the freeze-thaw of embryos.
Over the years, Dato’ Lee has set up several medical and fertility centres, including the Damansara Fertility Centre, TMC Fertility Centre, Alpha Fertility Centre, and Genesis IVF Centre – including a world leading centre in pre-implantation genetic testing. He has also set up several Centres of Excellence in other medical disciplines.
In 2005, Dato’ Lee listed his IVF practice on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, being the first IVF company in the world to be publicly listed.
He has also set up numerous IVF, genomics, and GMP stem cells R&D laboratories in Malaysia and Australia offering specialised services. Over the years, Dato’ Lee has published and presented more than 150 scientific and medical papers in medical journals and congresses both locally and globally. He has also served or currently serves as an advisor, board, and council member to numerous bodies in fertility, stem cells, and genomics – both locally and internationally.
In 2017, Dato’ Lee was recognised for his work in the field of fertility and medicine with a Lifetime Achievement in Medicine Award.
Dato’ Lee and his team are actively involved in health tourism and work closely with the Malaysian Health Tourism Council to promote Malaysia’s medical services. His companies comprise a large part of the revenue generated by health tourism nationally.

In 2003, he developed the Tropicana Medical Centre – a 5-star tertiary modern and prestigious medical centre at Kota Damansara, Selangor. Completing it within a short time period of 29 months, the design of Tropicana Medical Centre was nominated for the PAM award and featured in Roof and Construction, Malaysia Architecture, and Concept Architectural Magazines.
Dato’ Lee currently sits on the board of Cartherics – a company conducting R&D in off-the-shelf, stem cell-based immunotherapy against solid cancers.
Dato’ Lee also has experience in high-rise development, including a 424-unit condominium over 6.5 acres of land in Sungai Long, Selangor (Sutera Pines). This project was Qlassic certified, fully sold, completed, and delivered in good time with good finishing and workmanship.
Having successfully accomplished these leading medical establishments and facilities including a 5-star medical centre, world- leading genomics laboratories and world- leading IVF and stem cell centres, and also having completed successfully and on time a high rise development, and also having experience in the corporate world of listing, Dato’ Lee now leverages his experiences to put together the above onto the platform of a robust healthcare industry; and riding the wave of medical tourism and the growing needs of the ageing population, to lead the team at KLWC to build in Bukit Jalil, South East Asia’s 1st comprehensive and integrated healthcare and wellness city.
