Karen Pua’s career in healthcare began in 1994, serving as a physiotherapist at the Sultan Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru. She had a passion in the rehabilitation of stroke patients and a keen interest in Sports Medicine, which led her to pursue a Diploma in Sports Injuries from the Canadian Association for Health, Physical Education and Recreation.

In 1996, Karen ventured into the pharmaceutical industry, starting off in sales and thereon to training, where she played an instrumental role in equipping the dynamic sales team with extensive product knowledge and selling skills, before moving on to management training. She went on to earn an MBA from Southern Cross University, Australia in 1999.

Armed with six years of invaluable business experience from a top multinational pharmaceutical company, she joined Damansara Fertility Centre as the General Manager, overseeing its operations and marketing in 2002. She was also involved in the preliminary planning of Tropicana Medical Centre.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Karen decided to assume the challenge by pursuing an entrepreneurial role by acquiring Germax Sdn. Bhd. in 2004. Under her stewardship as its Executive Director, Karen successfully steered Germax into a leading distributor and marketer of pharmaceutical, healthcare, and beauty care products. Germax today, boasts of several blockbuster products from seventeen international principals and has an extensive distribution network in pharmacies, clinics, and hospitals throughout Malaysia. Germax Sdn. Bhd to date, has won several company awards, namely McMillan Woods Global Awards – Industry Class Award in Healthcare 2012 and the SME 100 Award in 2019. Other Brand Awards worth mentioning are the IMS Data Award from 2013 -2015 - No.1 Weight Reduction Selling Brand in Malaysia (Zenoctil), Motherhood Choice Award 2021 for Best Digital Pregnancy Test Lit (Clearblue) and Home Tester Club 2021 for Bioshield Moist Hydrating Lotion.

Karen brings with her a plethora of experiences spanning more than 2 decades within the booming and stimulating healthcare industry. This also includes 2 years within the hospitality industry with Ansett Australia. A woman of many talents and vision, she is excited in her role as the Director of Hospitality KLWC, and looks forward to combining her expertise and passion to assist in elevating healthcare in Malaysia and enriching lives in the process
